PackRethink — reclaiming packaging for a circular supply chain

PackRethink operates industrial reprocessing lines and engineering services focused on extracting value from end-of-life packaging. We take mixed streams—laminated cartons, coated board, flexible film and composite trays—and apply a combination of mechanical separation, solvent-free adhesive reclamation, thermal fractionation and controlled repulping to restore materials to useful specification. Rather than accepting low-grade downcycling outcomes, PackRethink uses scientific measurement and adaptive plant configurations to retain fibre length, reduce polymer degradation and deliver reclaimed materials that meet converter tolerances for secondary product manufacturing.

Our services are aimed at brand owners, converters and waste managers who want verified reclaimed content with stable supply characteristics. We provide rigorous QA: incoming feedstock characterisation, contaminant load reports, yield projections and validated analytics on tensile properties and polymer molecular weight retention where relevant. Each partnership begins with a feasibility assessment and ends with documented material passports that enable transparent recycled-content claims.

About PackRethink — engineering for high-quality recycling

Founded by material scientists and packaging engineers, PackRethink addresses the most persistent barriers to high-quality packaging recycling. Laminates, adhesives, and contamination historically reduce the usefulness of recovered materials. Our core competency is in adaptive separation techniques that match the incoming stream composition: hybrid disc screens and air classifiers for film-fibre separation, friction-based cleaning for coated surfaces, and targeted delamination modules that recover usable fibre fractions without excessive mechanical shear.

In the laboratory we quantify damage mechanisms—fibre shortening, polymer chain scission and contamination enthalpy—then translate those findings into plant-level process control settings. This results in reclaimed cellulose with reproducible drainage and tensile properties, polymer concentrates with predictable melt-flow behaviors and composite fractions that can be blended into new products with known performance envelopes. Brand partners receive a full analytics pack including proximate composition, residual moisture, contaminant spectra and suggested blend ratios for downstream converters.

PackRethink also invests in product redesign workshops. By collaborating with design teams early in the product lifecycle we recommend structural simplifications, mono-material strategies, and adhesive systems that are compatible with mechanical recycling, enabling easier reclamation and higher final recycled content in new packaging.

Advantages of choosing PackRethink

Higher recovered value

Our process tuning reduces fibre loss and polymer degradation, producing feedstock that commands higher conversion yields and reduces the need for virgin inputs, improving both margin and sustainability metrics.

Flexible intake streams

We accept mixed industrial residues, post-consumer corrugated and combined packaging streams, and design pre-sorting protocols that increase throughput without compromising output quality.

Regulatory and compliance support

Our documentation supports recycled-content claims, provides migration testing where required and includes chain-of-custody records to satisfy audits or tender requirements.

Collaborative product development

We co-develop with converters and designers to ensure products made from reclaimed materials meet performance needs — from mailers and secondary packaging to pulp-formed inserts and reclaimed-board applications.

High-quality reclaimed board and packaging samples

Services — full-spectrum recycling and circular solutions

Feedstock characterisation & pilot testing

We start every engagement with feedstock characterisation: composition matrices, contamination profiles, residual adhesives and coatings analysis. Pilot runs in our modular test plant establish yield curves and surface property retention, informing scale-up decisions and commercial pricing.

Mechanical delamination & solvent-free reclamation

Our mechanical delamination modules separate layers without aggressive chemical exposure. Where adhesives require intervention, we deploy solvent-free thermal and mechanical techniques that minimise environmental footprint while recovering usable polymer fractions and preserving paper fibre structure.

Precision pulp restoration

Re-pulping processes are tuned to preserve fibre length and strength. We use staged refining, enzymatic conditioning where applicable and controlled retention aids to produce pulp suitable for high-value board and paper grades, reducing reliance on virgin pulp inputs.

Polymer reprocessing & concentrate production

Recovered polymer fractions undergo controlled extrusion and pelletising to produce concentrates with consistent melt-flow characteristics. These concentrates are suitable for blending into thermoformed products or injection moulded secondary packaging components.

Product prototyping & converter partnerships

We prototype finished goods using reclaimed feedstock and partner with converters to validate performance and consumer acceptability. PackRethink acts as the bridge between reclamation and commercial conversion, shortening test cycles and reducing risk.

Design-for-recycling consultancy

Our consultancy services advise on material selection, adhesive strategies, label systems and assembly methods that facilitate end-of-life recovery. We support brands in designing packaging that balances function, brand identity and circularity.
